June is just around the corner and the school year is winding down.
Homeroom 207 is still going strong, working hard and playing even harder.
We've been enjoying the beautiful Spring weather outside at recess on our
playground and we even made a special trip across the street to play at the
park. Our Science and Art Fair was a big success and our errupting volcano
was a big hit..... or should I say a BIG EXPLOSION! Maureen and Jan's
math group have been working very hard learning some new math skills.
Adding and subtracting decimals has been their latest accomplishment.
Math Jeopardy has been a really fun way to review everything that they've
been learning since September. Maureen's reading group just finished
reading a wonderful story called, "The Very Important Day!" where families
from different countries all over the world travel to America to become
citizens of the United States. We talked about the how the Statue of Liberty
was made and how she has been welcoming immigrants to our wonderful
country for many years. The Eastern region of the United States has been
our focus in Social Studies recently. We've been discussing landforms that
are found in this region such as the Appalachian Mountains, Cape Cod, the
Delaware Bay and the coastal plains. Our class seems to really be enjoying
studying our region of the U.S. Simple machines have been our most
recent Science topic this semester. Levers, wedges, inclined plains, wheel
and axles, pulleys and screws are the simple machines that we have discussed
and learned about. We had a great time in Science Lab with Vivian working
with gears. We learned about how gears work and created some really awesome
compound machines from our simple machines. Here we are proudly displaying
our "hard" work, which turned out to be A LOT OF FUN! Thanks Viv!
