
Homeroom 110 can't wait for the warm weather and has been very busy in the classroom. This past week, in Language
Arts, we started cursive writing using The Handwriting Without Tears Program. We will continue on next week with the
letter "a". In Social Studies we have been talking about Canada and the differences between now and they way it used to
be back in the 1700's. Next week we will be discussing how people move from place to place and will be starting with
the settlers in St. Louis. In Science we have been studying Earth's layers. Don't forget to ask your children what the name of each layer is
and what it is made up of!! We also learned Earth's different forces and the different forces that make up Earth's landscape
such as a slow moving glacier or a fast moving volcanic eruption. Next week we will continue to study Earth's landforms and learn
how and why we use topographic maps. Math Group A has been doing a fantastic job working on fractions and has now moved
on to congruent shapes and next week will be working with symmetrical shapes. Group B continues to perfect their
multiplication facts and loves playing "moving math" around the room. In Reading Group A we just finished reading "The Keeping
Quilt" and will soon be reading "Grandma's Records". Group B has been doing a great job Exploring with "Ranger Docket"
and is continuing to do a great job improving their phonics skills.
