Electives at Chapel Hill Academy are designed to enrich student academic experiences, provide additional socialization, and introduce students to many recreational experiences. Our students are not always able to participate in afterschool clubs and teams in their home districts. Therefore we provide a similar experience during the school day!!! We meet in our elective activities once a week for younger students and twice a week for older students. Many, if not most, of the electives have come about as ideas from the students. We always try to modify our list as new ideas and interests arise. |

In School Work at Chapel Hill Academy
Chapel Hill Academy provides ALL students with the opportunity to work for the school. The In School Work Program fosters self-esteem, aids in the development of self confidence and peer relationships as well as providing opportunities for career exploration. Students fill out a job application with assistance from their teacher or counselor (grade 4 and above). Students in grades K-3 do not need to fill out the application. Students then meet with our In School Work Program Coordinator to discuss work sites available and student interests. Job sites include, but are not limited to: helper in academic classes, computer classes, art classes, gym classes, science lab, project room and the library. Cafeteria and maintenance assistants are also available. Students receive a pay check every six weeks. As students progress through the Behavior Modification System they receive a dollar raise in pay and increased work hours. All students start off at $1.00/hour. Students who chose to participate in the in school work program are evaluated at the end of each marking period and job sites can be rotated.
